'top deck - what's top deck'

11/07/11

Barcelona - what a beautiful city, clean and artistic - thanks to the creative mind of Gaudi, trains every 10 minutes, crazy beaches and some celebrity spotting!

Started off this morning finding our way to the Barcelona Olympic site and Stadium up at the Mount Jew area. Was a trip down memory lane standing in the stadium and around the Olympic Venue actually built for the 1936 Olympics but given to Germany because of the Spanish Civil War. Afterwards we found a museum and look out over the city and went shopping in a former bull ring - quite the centre.

Next stop - the Barcelona beach and the Mediterranean Sea. We had a tasty lunch along the beach and then attempted to get a spot- oh my gosh I've never felt sand that hot before - burning my feet. Luckily we spotted a umbrella and banana chair set. After sitting back for 10 minutes we were hit up for a fee to sit there - you're joking and many gypsies trapsing up and down the beach asking, 'cola, water, coconut, dresses, massages, chips?' we couldn't get the tune out of our head.

Extremely hot and bothered and only my feet dipped in the flatish water we headed back to our luxurios hostel for a siesta and washing ; ). Later headed to 'gaudi house' a crazily designed marvel and then out to dinner.  Once seated Kara thought she spotted Aussie actor Guyton Grantley.

Just to make sure and one never to pass up the opportunity to meet someone famous I went over to the table and asked if they were Aussie and if it was indeed Guyton,  yes it was and he offered to come and meet the others and have a happy snap with us- thanks Guyton and go the celebrities.

To Finish the night we had to do our souvenir shop of magnets, posties and I had to have a Hard Rock shirt ; ).Thanks barcelona, I enjoyed it immensely, especially the late starts to the day, siesta and the late evenings and long days. Adios and Bonjour the French Riviera.
